If you are having difficulty running the game at a decent speed try the following. Close all unnecessary processes (anyone who plays games should already do this by default). You can also try setting process priority to high in task manager, this may help if you are running several other cpu intensive background applications however be aware that it also may cause instability. The options referred to below can be accessed through Emulation/Controls setup in the options tab of the emulator. Make sure to save any changes you make by clicking on Save Options when you are done. For a big speed boost set Emulation Speed to Unlimited MHz-Disaster, 100/50/10% (lower is faster). This is sort of like turbo mode it will increase speed a lot, but sound will also be sped up. If it bothers you mute sound on your computer not the emulator. It may also be more prone to crashing than Realtime speed. Set sound quality to low (digital mono and 10kHz) and set MultiBoot Normal/BurstDelays to Fast/Fast (best). You can also try setting game screen filter to none although this does nothing for me. If you are using NDS2xGL2.exe try raising frameskip, getting rid of filtering, raising task priority or using NO$GBA.EXE instead. If you try all of this and still find the game unplayable then you will have to wait for a better optimised version of No$gba. Either that or upgrade your cpu. There is no magix fix that will make the game playable if you don't have the hardware to run it. For people who are curious I have a Core 2 Duo E6400 clocked at 3GHz and CPU usage never goes above 50% although this is probably because the program isn't multi threaded. I have played up until the second gym and the game runs at 100% everywhere with realtime emulation selected except for the entrance to Lake Verity. It drops to around 80-95% here for some reason. Unfortunately with realtime 100% isn't quite 100% in practice, the emulator always says it is running at 100% outside but can still lag a little. I eventually got tired of realtime and switched to Unlimited MHz-Disaster 10%, running at a speed I estimate to be about 2/3 times faster than an actual DS with this setting.
ISSUE 1: The game does not work on my R4DS/M3/G6/ or other random DS backup device.
CAUSE: You ignored the torrent description and comments.
SOLUTION: Learn to read.
ISSUE 2: Game freezes at end of a battle or when viewing the pokedex
CAUSE: Disabling sound will cause this to happen, as the emulator can't continue until the pokemon makes a sound.
SOLUTION: Enable Sound.
ISSUE 3: Game freezes when trying to deposit pokemon in PC or trying to view a box in the PC.
CAUSE: This happens when a box in the pc has too many pokemon in it.
SOLUTION: By far the easiest way to solve this is to keep less than 15 pokemon in a box. If it is too late for that use the withdraw pokemon option to open the PC, and then change to an empty box. You can now deposit pokemon. If you need to access a box to withdraw/view a pokemon and it keeps freezing when you switch to it, try temporarily disabling sound and then repeatedly try to move pokemon out of the box. On my 10th try this worked and the game didn't freeze. As a last resort use the pokemon save editor to switch pokemon into different boxes.
ISSUE 4: You can't get out of fire/leaf/flower traps in the underground.
CAUSE: You are supposed to blow into the microphone to get out of these traps but currently most people can't get the microphone to work in No$gba so the game just hangs at this screen.
SOLUTION: Before moving always click on the ground in front of you to reveal traps and then avoid/disengage them. Alternatively just don't go into the underground, it is fun but not essential to the game.
ISSUE 5: Screen freezes or turns white during movie sequences.
CAUSE: The emulator is currently unable to play some movie sequences correctly. There aren't many movies in Pokemon Diamond and Pearl so this shouldn't happen often. The only time I know of for sure that this hapens is after defeating the Galactic Team boss on Mount Coronet, there is a sequence here with Dialga/Palkia that won't play.
SOLUTION: Just wait up to several minutes for the movie to finish and the problem should correct itself. You will also have to press the A button a few times to advance some dialogue that is not displaying.
ISSUE 6: Top screen turns white on map.
CAUSE: Emulator can't currently render fog properly.
SOLUTION: Use the Fog Clear HM, open your bag to clear the screen and then return to the map.
ISSUE 7: You get the error message "The data could not be read. Please turn off the power, then remove and reinsert the DS Game Card".
CAUSE: You are not using the emulator provided in this torrent or for some reason have decide to delete the ini file or disable save support.
SOLUTION: Set NDS Cartridge Backup Media to Flash 512KBytes.
ISSUE 8: You get the error message "The rom-image has crashed" whenever you try start the game.
CAUSE: You are probably using the Pokemon Pearl rom and have changed Reset/Startup Entrypoint to GBA BIOS (Nintendo logo)".
SOLUTION: Change it back to Start Cartridge directly.
ISSUE 9: You get the error message "The rom-image has crashed" whenever you try to load a saved game.
CAUSE: You are trying to use the write/load snapshot feature.
SOLUTION: Don't. Use the in game save.
ISSUE 10: You get the error message "A communication error has occurred. If you were in the union room you will be returned there".
CAUSE: You are either not using the emulator provided in this torrent, or have decided to replace the provided FIRMWARE.BIN file with an alternative version or a dummy file, most likely created by renaming NO$GBA.INP to FIRMWARE.BIN. There was a so called 'fix' circulating around that suggested doing this. It worked on the Japanese version, it doesn't work on the US version.
SOLUTION: To correct the issue make sure you are using the emulator provided in this torrent and not a previous version, the emulator I have provided should have a file called FIRMWARE.BIN that is exactly 256KB in the no$gba directory.
ISSUE 11: You can see the continue menu when you start the game but if you try to continue games you just get a black screen.
CAUSE: You are not using the patched roms provided in this torrent.
SOLUTION: Use a patched rom.
ISSUE 12: You can save but when you restart it automatically begins a new game and you don't get a continue option.
CAUSE: You have changed the save type or renamed the rom without updating your save file.
SOLUTION: Check that you have a file called <your rom name>.sav in the battery folder and check that NDS Cartridge Backup Media is set to Flash 512KBytes. If you still can't load start a new game, make a new save and then attempt to load it.
ISSSUE 13: When trying to load the rom you get the error message "Encrypted Cartridge, requires files BiosNds7.rom and BiosNds9.rom"
CAUSE: You are not using the emulator provided in this torrent or have decided to delete or rename bios files.
SOLUTION: Use the emulator provided in this torrent.
ISSUE 14: The touch screen doesn't work.
CAUSE: You are not using the FIRMWARE.BIN file provided in this torrent.
SOLUTION: Use the FIRMWARE.BIN file provided in this torrent, it is 256KB.
ISSUE 15: When I try to run NDS2xGL2 I get the error Naum foi possivel....
CAUSE: The program currently only supports the GBA mode VGA (poppy bright).
SOLUTION: Set the GBA mode to VGA (poppy bright) or use NO$GBA.EXE.
ISSUE 16: The emulator regularly crashes whilst playing and displays the error "The rom-image has crashed" .:
POSSIBLE CAUSES: Emulation Speed, LCD Refresh set to something other than 16.78MHz Realtime, Auto. Sound Output Mode set to something other than Digital Stereo. Sound Desired Sample Rate set to something other than High (44kHz) (best). Multiboot Normal/ BurstDelays set to something other than Medium/Medium (stable). You have set process priority to High or are running ATI catalyst 7.4.
POSSIBLE SOLUTIONS: Try changing the options above to those settings then save options and exit emulator. Don't change process priority. Downgrade Catalyst to 7.3.
ISSUE 17: You get the error "Microphone wave in failure" whilst playing.
POSSIBLE CAUSES: Running background applications which play sounds for example winamp or msn. Incompatible sound hardware, incompatible sound drivers or incompatible microphone.
POSSIBLE SOLUTIONS: Unplug any microphones, close all background applications, update sound drivers and check that your sound playback device is correctly configured in Sounds and Audio Devices Properties. If you have sound quality set to high try low and if it is set to low try high.
